Renault Argentina specified the reactivation of the Córdoba-Buenos Aires air routewhich I had not used since 2013, with the aim of optimize your supply chain for the supply of the emblematic Santa Isabel Factory, in the province of Córdoba, which will have greater production requirements during 2025.
on that plant the new half-ton pickup will be manufactured based on the “Niagara Concept”. It will be the first industrialized model in Argentina on the new Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP).
The Santa Isabel factory, where around 2,200 employees currently work, produced more than 70 thousand units last year. Six models of the brand currently come from there: Renault Sandero, Renault Stepway, Renault Logan, Renault Kangoo in its passenger and van versions, and Renault Alaskan.
Based on these needs, Renault Argentina reactivated the air supply route. The first test load came from the Renault Group plant in Valladolid, Spain. The delivery was carried out in collaboration with the Pro-Córdoba Agency, the Chamber of Foreign Commerce of Córdoba and Aeropuertos Argentina Cargas.
From now on a weekly air route is establishedconsolidating the direct flow of supplies to the Córdoba factory.
The automaker highlighted that in addition to improving efficiency in logistics times and costs, the reactivation of this air route has a strong sustainable component, since reduces land transportation by 700 kilometers from Ezeiza Airport to Santa Isabel.
The ecological impact of the measure
This reduction will contribute significantly to reducing the carbon footprint of the company, in line with Renault’s environmental commitment.
“This advance reinforces our commitment to efficiency, innovation and sustainability, positioning the Santa Isabel Factory as a benchmark in the country and the region,” highlighted André Pinto, director of the Santa Isabel Factory.
“With this reactivation, we not only optimize transportation, but we also support the Renault Group’s global objective of reducing our carbon footprint, reducing land transportation from Buenos Aires,” he added.
The project also opens the possibility of establishing new direct international connections from Córdoba to key destinations for Renault operations, such as France, Romania, Morocco and Türkiyethus strengthening its positioning in the global market.
Last September, Renault Argentina confirmed an investment of US$350 million for the manufacture of a half-ton pickup at its Santa Isabel Factory in Córdoba, on the new Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP).
This investment for the manufacture of a new model in Argentina occurs within the framework of the “International Game Plan”, which provides for the manufacture of 8 new models in international markets outside Europe with a global investment of 3,000 million euros.
This vehicle will be the first industrialized model in Argentina of the new Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), the new global and flexible (multi-energy) platform of Renault Group. This half-ton pickup will initially be manufactured only in Argentina and will have a strong export profile.
Renault has been present in Argentina since 1959 when it partnered with IKA (Industrias Kaiser Argentina) which had built, 4 years earlier, an automotive factory in the province of Córdoba. From that moment to the present, Fábrica Santa Isabel has manufactured more than 3.4 million vehicles of 34 different models and versions, many of which became true national icons such as: Fuego, Torino, R4, Renault 12, Clio, and Kangoo among others.
