Despite leadership
Third German is eliminated early from the Darts World Cup
Kai Gotthardt was also eliminated from the Darts World Cup in round 2. After winning the first set, the German’s nerves gave out at the crucial moment.
German debutant Kai Gotthardt missed another surprise at the Darts World Cup and was eliminated in the second round. The 29-year-old lost 3-1 to top English player Stephen Bunting in the afternoon. Gotthardt got off to a strong start and won the first set. In the second set he missed several set darts, after which the game tipped over completely.
“I just have to do the second set. Then I’ll probably win the game. After that I couldn’t get anything going,” said Gotthardt, who looked visibly upset, on Sport1. “It’s my own fault for the situation.”

For him, the first World Cup was still a success. “It was a great debut,” said expert Max Hopp, who hasn’t been a participant at Alexandra Palace for four years. In round one, the German defeated Alan Soutar from Scotland 3-1. Half of the six German participants, Gabriel Clemens, Niko Springer and Gotthardt, have now been eliminated.
