Retirees alert! PAMI warned of possible virtual scams regarding medication subsidies

In the last year there were several changes in the PAMI modalities and scammers take advantage of this situation of changes to do their thing.

Scams targeting retirees affiliated with PAMI became a growing problem in a year of many changes and it is essential to take measures to protect this vulnerable population. Scammers often take advantage of the trust and misinformation of older adults to deceive them with false promises, improper charges, or requests for personal and banking information.

One of the most common strategies used by criminals is telephone contact. Scammers call posing as PAMI or bank employees, offering false benefits such as automatic loans, benefit increases, or new medication assistance programs.

It is important to remember that the PAMI never requests personal information or banking details over the phonemuch less does it require payments to access services. In the event of any suspicious call, it is recommended to cut off communication and verify the information directly with the entity.

PAMI’s warning

The agency warned that several scammers are trying to reach retirees through WhatsApp with messages that could be described as “Pishing”this is an identity theft technique to steal personal and banking data.

PAMI warned that No worker from the organization or any program will communicate via WhatsApp such important information. This means that if you receive a suspicious message asking for your information, you should immediately block the contact since it is possibly a scammer.

It is also important that family members of retirees actively participate in education and protection of their loved ones, helping them identify possible deceptions and accompanying them in carrying out procedures.
