His full name is Earl Gentry Kendrick Jr. He is a businessman and philanthropist known mainly for being the owner of the Arizona Diamondbacksa professional baseball team in the National League of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in Princeton, West Virginia in 1943 and graduated from the University of Arizona, located in the city of Tucson.
Since 1995 he joined a group of investors to purchase the MLB expansion rights and that led to the creation of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team began playing in 1998 and won the World Series in 2001, that being its fourth season. Under his leadership, they have achieved some national sporting successes and are recognized for their support of various charitable causes.

Born in September 1943, he grew up in the State of West Virginia and graduated in Business Administration from the University of that city. Then, he began his career at the well-known company IBM. Three years later founded Datatel Inc., which has become the world leader in computer software development for infrastructure technology management for schools, universities and foundations. In 2011, Datatel acquired SunGard Higher Education and in 2015 both companies were sold for $3.5 billion to TPG Capital.
In 1980 he was president of a financial services technology company in Texas. In 1989 he became the main investor in Woodforest National Bank, one of the largest banks in the country owned mostly by its employees.
In his personal life, he is married and has 2 children. They live in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Since he was young he has been interested in different projects that describe him as a philanthropist. First, during the founding of the Arizona Diamondbacks, he invested more than $80 million in charity, without expecting any profits. He has also served on the boards of several charities, including Barrow Neurological Institute, Dignity Health, TGen Foundation, Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
In 2016, as torrential rains devastated counties in West Virginia, he donated more than $1 million toward repairs. In 2020 it donated more than $2 million to relief organizations during the pandemic and in 2022 it invested $20 million to West Virginia University to expand economic education through Chambers College.
Another of those projects was the million-dollar investment in the Woodforest National Bank, this being one of the largest banks in the country belonging to its own employees.
