The Swabian Gymnastics Federation (STB) said in response to a DPA request that it could not comment on this for legal reasons.

The STB and the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) are in the process of dealing with the denounced grievances and events. According to the report, a commission should be set up to speak to everyone involved – gymnasts, parents, coaches and association officials.

Training resumed at the Stuttgart Artistic Gymnastics Forum on Thursday. Starting next week, national coach Gerben Wiersma and junior national coach Claudia Schunk will also be taking on assignments there. The duo is scheduled to be present from January 7th.

Flood of allegations against Kunstturnforum Stuttgart

Led by the former selection gymnasts Tabea Alt and Michelle Timm, several athletes recently made grievances public at the Stuttgart Artistic Gymnastics Forum. “Systematic physical and mental abuse” and catastrophic circumstances were denounced.

Active gymnasts also commented. Lara Hinsberger wrote on Instagram: “In Stuttgart I was treated like an object. I was used until I was so physically and mentally broken that I lost all value to the coaches (and at some point also to myself). ” She has been receiving psychotherapeutic treatment since then.” German record champion Elisabeth Seitz had called for the allegations of abuse to be dealt with.

German Gymnastics Association is investigating allegations

The DTB had already announced an investigation before Hinsberger’s statement. In addition, immediate measures were initiated. The DTB and STB have “concrete information about possible misconduct on the part of responsible trainers at the federal base in Stuttgart,” it said.
