The registration of consumer associations in the national registry is suspended for one year

The decision was made through Provision 3/2025, due to new registration requirements for civil associations with legal status, cooperatives or foundations that seek to operate at the national level.

A re-registration of the associations after the regulatory review is not ruled out. Finally, it is clarified that the provision has already come into force as of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The Government closed three consumer defense associations in September 2024

The Undersecretary of Consumer Defense and Commercial Loyalty, which depends on the Ministry of Economy, deregistered three consumer associations after being intimidated to present documentation and not having done so within the current deadline.

These were: “Argentine Consumers Association for Consumer Defense, Education and Information”, the “Santiago Del Estero Consumer Defense Association – ADECSE” and “Collective Justice Civil Association”.

According to the documents published in the Official Gazette, it was an inspection operation of consumer associations to verify compliance with the regulations. Each one was asked tol Annual Management Report which is mandatory. QTherefore, the three associations were notified, granting them a period of five business days from the notification to comply with the presentation of the Report and complementary documentation corresponding to 2023, under warning to proceed with their removal from the National Registry of Consumer Associations. By not receiving that information, it was lowered.
