Tennis star Osaka announces separation from rapper Cordae
Naomi Osaka and Cordae were a couple for several years. Now the former tennis world number one announces her separation from the rapper. She finds appreciative words.
Tennis star Naomi Osaka (27) and US rapper Cordae (27) are no longer a couple. The Japanese woman announced this on Instagram. “There is no bad blood, he is a great person and a great father.” In July 2023, Osaka gave birth to daughter Shai.
“I’m really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is the greatest gift and I’ve grown a lot through our shared experiences,” Osaka continued in her message. She ended this with a red heart. There was initially no public reaction from Cordae.
Injury concerns at Osaka
The four-time Grand Slam tournament winner Osaka recently reached a final in Auckland for the first time since her maternity leave. After winning the first set against Denmark’s Clara Tauson, she had to retire due to an injury. This raised questions about the physical condition of the former world number one before the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year begins on Sunday.
Cordae was nominated for a Grammy twice with his debut solo album “The Lost Boy,” released in 2019. He supported Osaka in the stands several times during her matches, for example during her US Open title win in 2020.
