Sport is also opening up: The corona loosening for active people and spectators

The “25-person rule,” which banned soccer teams from having substitute players warm up with the rest, falls, as does the 2G rule in sports practice, which is being replaced by a 3G rule. The changes in detail:

25-person rule: From next Saturday, meetings of 50 instead of the previous 25 people will be allowed without seat assignment. This also applies to training sessions and competitions such as soccer games, for which twice as many active people as now will be allowed to stay inside the sports facility in the future. This means that every sport will be able to be practiced again.

Viewer Limits: Even after February 5, the maximum number of spectators at events with fixed seats will remain at 2,000. However, from next Saturday only a 2G certificate will be sufficient to be able to attend the event. Until next Friday, three vaccinations plus a PCR test are required for events where 2,000 spectators are allowed.

3G rule instead of 2G rule when exercising: A 2G proof (vaccination or recovery) is currently required for sports (especially contact sports). From February 19th there will also be a relaxation here. Only 3G will be necessary, so either vaccinated, recovered or tested.

Minister of Sport Werner Kogler: “We remain cautious, must continue to keep a close eye on the pandemic, implement the remaining measures with discipline and a sense of responsibility. And yet today is a happy day, not only, but also for the many sports enthusiasts in the country. Also If training sessions were already possible without any restrictions – competitions are the icing on the cake of sport. And fortunately, starting next Saturday, they will also be possible again in football and ice hockey without any problems.”
