The national government, through the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), simplified the procedures for courier shipments. Among the new delimited parameters, the libertarian administration determined a limit of US$3,000 for imports.
One by one, ARCA changes for foreign purchases
With the new General Resolution, the Government modified previous legislation to update different parameters on courier purchases made abroad. In detail, the national agency provided:
Additionally, for imports intended for personal use, a franchise of US$400 was established, which exempts the payment of taxes for that amount and significantly reduces tax costs compared to the previous regime.
It should be noted that the Government did not establish a limit on the number of shipments per year via courier.
What is courier
Unlike the door-to-door system, the Courier regime allows you to send packages with a higher weight limitwhich significantly expands import and export possibilities. In addition, it includes a deductible of $400 for personal imports, on which only 21% VAT is applied to the surplus.
On the other hand, the door-to-door system offers a much smaller deductible, $50, and taxes the surplus at 50%.
Another advantage of the courier regime is ldirect delivery to the recipient’s homewithout the need for the citizen to carry out in-person procedures at Customs. On the other hand, the door-to-door system may require that the package be picked up at a branch and additional procedures to be completed.
This change also benefits companies that need to import essential products or spare parts whose value exceeded the limits of the previous system.
ARCA revealed the complete list of products prohibited to enter Argentina in 2025
Starting in January 2025, the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) will implement stricter restrictions on the products that can enter the national territory. After updating the amounts to report transactions, the agency published a detailed list of products that will be prohibitedwhich will affect both travelers and informal imports.
Customs authorities will intensify controls at entry points to the country with the aim of protect the local economy and prevent the entry of illicit items or products destined for informal trade. It is important to take these restrictions into account, since many citizens take advantage of their trips abroad to purchase products at lower prices, especially in sectors such as technology and clothing.
As detailed, among the prohibited products are those that violate national safety regulations, such as explosives, arms, narcotic substances and objects of archaeological or cultural value. Furthermore, the merchandise intended for commercial or industrial uses is subject to specific regulations. The new restrictions seek to prevent the entry of these products and, at the same time, protect the local economy.
