Medvedev loses to Nadal in Australian Open final

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost the final of the Australian Open tennis (Australian Open), in which he met with Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

Nadal won with a score of 2:6, 6:7 (5:7), 6:4, 6:4, 7:5. Athletes spent 5 hours and 24 minutes on the court.

Earlier it was reported that during Medvedev’s speech, a fan ran onto the court. Before the violator was detained, he managed to walk a few meters. The incident did not prevent the tennis player from completing the break point.

Now the Russian is in second place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Nadal is in fifth.

The victory was the 21st for the Spaniard at the Grand Slam tournaments – this is a record for the number of titles in the series.

Medvedev’s defeat is the second in a row at the Australian Open. A year ago, he also lost in the final to Serb Novak Djokovic.

The prize fund of the Australian Open-2022 is almost $54 million.

Grand Slam tournaments are the most prestigious series in tennis. It combines four tournaments: the Australian Open (Australian Open), France (Roland Garros) and the United States (US Open), as well as the Wimbledon tournament in the UK. The winner of each receives 2000 ranking points.
