Tennis player Laura Siegemund is making things exciting at the start of the Australian Open. After more than three hours, she can celebrate her progress.

With a show of strength, tennis player Laura Siegemund reached the second round of the Australian Open. The 36-year-old from Metzingen won after 3:16 hours against the American Hailey Baptiste 4:6, 7:5, 6:4. In the second round, Siegemund will now face Chinese tournament favorite Zheng Qinwen.

The marathon match on the uncovered Court 15 in Melbourne was characterized by major weaknesses in one’s own serve. Both opponents received a total of 15 breaks.

On the opening day of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year in Melbourne, Tatjana Maria had already won her first round match with a two-set win against the American Bernarda Pera. The 37-year-old will face Denmark’s Clara Tauson in the next round.
