- 1807: in Argentina, the English troops that were in Montevideo ask Viceroy Sobremonte for the surrender of Buenos Aires.
- 1897: Swiss Matthias Zurbriggen makes the first ascent of Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina.
- 1956: Birth of Luis VenturaArgentine journalist.
- 1957: Died Humphrey BogartAmerican actor. Known as the biggest male star of classic Hollywood for his leading role in Casablanca.
- 1959: in Buenos Aires, President Arturo Frondizi privatizes the Lisandro de la Torre municipal meat processing plant. 9,000 workers begin a major strike with barricades and bomb attacks.
- 1973: Elvis Presley gives one of his most memorable shows “Aloha from Hawaii”. The show is televised and becomes a hit, revitalizing his career.
- 1976: Died Juan D’ArienzoArgentine tango musician and conductor, known as “The king of the compás”.
- 1985: Argentine Emilio Scotto begins the longest motorcycle trip in world history. He left his home in Buenos Aires and for 10 years, 2 months and 17 days he crossed all continents except Antarctica, covering a distance of 735,000 kilometers on his motorcycle.
- 1989: Birth of Ricardo Mario “Chinese” DarínArgentine actor.
- 2016: Died Alan RickmanEnglish actor. Remembered for his roles as Professor Snape in “Harry Potter,” and Hans Gruber in “Die Hard.”
- 2021: Alberto Fernández, the President of the Nation at that time, signs the decree that promulgates the Legalization of Abortion in Argentinaafter being approved by both chambers of the National Congress.
