LASK coach Schopp got the reinforcement he wanted

LASK coach Markus Schopp receives support in his second role as sports director: Christian Gratzei takes on the newly created position of “Head of Football Operations” and thus becomes the coach’s right-hand man.

“It was my wish to position ourselves even more broadly and to strengthen our team with Christian Gratzei,” explained Schopp. “We have known each other for a very long time and our collaboration has always been characterized by mutual trust. We have very similar ideas about the path we want to take together here and I am convinced that with his competence and his approach he will be a great asset to him club will be.”

During Schopp’s time as interim striker coach, Gratzei was number one, and the two also played one-two in Hartberg. Three months after Schopp’s quick move to Linz, the 43-year-old terminated his contract with the league rivals at the end of the year and moved to LASK. “I see great potential here and would like to do my part to ensure that we are as successful as possible together,” said the ten-time ÖFB team goalkeeper. After the end of his active career, he was a goalie coach at Sturm Graz, Wolfsberg and Hartberg, and his role recently expanded to the role of transfer manager for the Styrian team. At LASK he moves entirely into the office and becomes the link between management and sport.
