The organizers of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing have mangled the names of Russian skiers. This was announced on January 30 by the two-time bronze medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea skier Yulia Stupak on Instagram.
“Just read our names. Ivan Yakimushkin narrowed his eyes sharply, ”Stupak shared funny photos with subscribers.
The names and surnames of Russian athletes were distorted: skier Natalya Nepryaeva was listed as “Nepryaev Atalya”, and Yulia Stupak herself as “Stupakia”.
The organizers presented Ivan Yakimushkin with a sign with the inscription “Yakimus Ivan,” Gazeta.Ru notes.
The organizers of a number of international competitions have previously found themselves in an awkward position due to the fact that employees confused the flag of Russia with the flags of other countries.
So, on April 27, during the match of the Women’s World Drafts Championship between Pole Natalya Sadovskaya and Russian Tamara Tansykkuzhina, the Russian flag was removed from the table. At that moment, the Russian woman was thinking about her move, what happened distracted her and surprised her very much. The incident also caused outrage among Russian Internet users.
President of the Polish Drafts Federation Damian Reshka apologized on April 28 for the situation with the Russian flag. He noted that the requirement to remove the tricolor immediately appeared during the game. If this had not been done, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) could have excluded the International Drafts Federation.
On May 4, Tansykkuzhina defended her title of world champion in checkers, beating Sadovskaya. After nine rounds of confrontation, the score was equal – 54:54. Then two games of rapid checkers and three games of blitz ended in a draw, in the fourth game of blitz the Russian won.
