Roberto Digón, third vice president of Boca and historic leader, died

With a vast trajectory in the xeneize, Digón began his career in union militancy. He was general secretary of the Single Union of Tobacco Employees of the Argentine Republic between 1970 and 1976 and 1983 and 1993.

He also held different positions in the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), including the Secretary of International Relations. Between 1993 and 1997 he was a national deputy.

During that period he was also general secretary of the Boca Juniors Athletic Club and later became president of the Riverside team’s Professional Soccer team. He was currently working as 3rd Vice President and Alternate Representative in the AFA, a position he reached after the victory in 2019 of the list led by Jorge Ameal and Juan Román Riquelme.

In 1997, Digón founded Nuevo Boca, a group that he presided over until his death. Last December, Digón had been distinguished by the club for his 50 years as an active member.
