After an emotional farewell announcement: Bö on the podium

The tears have dried, but Johannes Thingnes Bö still has a lot planned before the end of his career. In Ruhpolding he came third, the DSV biathletes didn’t make it onto the podium.

Biathlon star Johannes Thingnes Bö took third place in the mass start in Ruhpolding one day after the emotional announcement of the end of his career at the end of this season. The five-time Olympic champion from Norway made two errors in four shooting sessions and crossed the finish line 11.4 seconds behind the impeccable premiere winner Tommaso Giacomel from Italy. Bö’s compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid came second (1 shooting error).

After the relay podium on Friday, the German men missed a conciliatory conclusion to the home World Cup. Justus Strelow (1) came seventh as the best DSV ski hunter. Philipp Nawrath (3) also made it into the top 15 in eleventh place.

Danilo Riethmüller, who started the race wearing the red jersey of the discipline leader, missed five times and had to settle for third-to-last place. Johannes Kühn (23rd/4) also had nothing to do with the top rankings. He had problems with the standing position.
