Victory in the snow: Eagles opponents of the Commanders in NFL playoffs
You could only see the ball on TV if you looked closely, the snow was so thick in Philadelphia. The Eagles as hosts beat the Rams and host Washington.
The Philadelphia Eagles are on the verge of returning to the Super Bowl. In the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, the Eagles won 28:22 against the Los Angeles Rams in heavy snow and will now face the surprise team of the Washington Commanders around the German Brandon Coleman next Sunday. Two years after the defeat in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles around quarterback Jalen Hurts are only missing one more win to take part in the spectacle again on February 9th in New Orleans.
“I’m happy with this win. Big credit to our defense, we found a way to win and that’s all that matters this time of year,” said quarterback Hurts. “The conditions were great, but the fans were even better,” said teammate Saquon Barkley, who excelled with two touchdowns.
Hurts struck in the second half
Hurts, who played with a brace on his knee after halftime, replied when asked if he was OK on US television: “I finished the game.” He is being examined and can’t say anything more.
A light snowfall in Philadelphia turned into dense flakes during halftime and the field turned into a white carpet and a great challenge for both teams. Little grip for hands and feet resulted in several ball losses and moments of shock for both teams.
Barkley with two touchdowns
Barkley coped well with the weather. The Eagles’ running back once again showed his enormous importance in his first season for the team and, in addition to two touchdowns, also gained 205 yards of space through runs. Because kicker Jake Elliott missed the extra point twice, the Rams had a chance to win, only trailing by six points with 26 seconds left. But then the defense stopped the guests’ last attack attempt.
