After complaints from the provinces and the countryside, they present a project to eliminate withholdings

The project has four articles and the first of them explains its objective: “The immediate removal of all export duties that currently govern agricultural products and their derivatives”.

The following two refer to the repeal of the article 755 of Law No. 22,415corresponding to Customs Codewhere the levies on export duties on the international marketing of goods for consumption are established -precisely- in order to “meet the needs of public finances” and “stabilize internal prices at convenient levels.”

The initiative bears the signature of the Santa Fe deputy Roberto Mirabellawhich recently decided to break with the block of Union for the Homeland to found a space that exclusively integrates him, under the name Let’s defend Santa Fe. “I invite Javier Milei to fulfill his campaign promises and eliminate taxes that suffocate the productive interior of Argentina,” he stated.

Claim by governors of the Central Region for withholdings

The governors of the Central Region They met this Tuesday in Rosario and gave strong support to agriculture in their claim for withholdings, while sending a message to the Casa Rosada. The summit of the bloc, which took place after noon in Rosario, was hosted by Santa Fe Maximiliano Pullaro and was attended by Martin Llaryora (Cordoba) and Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), representatives of the three provinces that make up the alliance.

Subsequently, the provincial leaders held a press conference in which they provided details about their claims. The triad agreed to demand that the national government lower the next tax, as part of the Javier Milei to alleviate the tax pressure, are withholdings. At the same time, they indicated that the three provinces will invest 100% of the proceeds from the Rural Real Estate Tax in a productive infrastructure fund.

“If the decision is not made quickly to lower withholdings, we can have a collapse in agricultural matters as happened in the 90s. We want withholdings to be lowered so that this money remains in the hands of the producers,” he protested. Llaryora during his speech. At the same time, he warned that “the field could melt” and that, if that happens, “we are going to have a very bad time.”

Rogelio Frigerioin turn, commented that they raised the need to urgently convene representatives of rural entities, producers and also rural workers: “We want to form a table that permanently monitors the situation in the sector.” He also said that the Government has to urgently analyze the possibility of reducing the tax pressure on agricultural export duties.

For its part, Maximiliano Pullaro He assured that they agree with the lower tax rates carried out by the Nation and with the fiscal balance. However, he clarified: “Depending on the tax reduction that the President promised to carry out, the next tax that must be lowered has to be directly associated with the productive sector, with the countryside: the damn rents.”

The agricultural sector insists on a meeting with Luis Caputo

The last meeting of the Liaison Tablewhere different representations of the agricultural productive sectorsconcluded with an exclusive priority: arrange a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputoto insist on the demand for the elimination of withholdings for farm exports.

In this framework, the president of the Limited Agricultural Intercooperative Confederation (Coninagro), Lucas Magnanostated that “it is time for a reduction in withholdings”: “The request comes as a result of the complaints received from the producers and beyond that due to a logical issue of a rearrangement that occurred in the economy.”

“It seems to me that it is time for a reduction in withholdings and a fiscal reconfiguration in Argentina. The numbers say so, the field in the last 20 years has set aside more than US$230,000 million and that is missing for all the productions and the chain to continue investing and improving,” he said.
