Media reports: BVB dismisses coach Nuri Şahin
According to a media report, Borussia Dortmund is parting ways with its coach Nuri Şahin. BVB recently had a poor performance in the Champions League.
No win yet this year, only tenth place in the Bundesliga, out of the cup and recently also delivered a disappointing performance in the Champions League – the bosses at BVB have had enough and are pulling the ripcord: coach Nuri Şahin has been released with immediate effect. “Sport Bild” and “the TV channel Sky” report this in agreement.
Nuri Şahin has coached BVB since 2024
There had already been speculation about a possible dismissal of Şahin after the Bundesliga defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, after the Champions League defeat against FC Bologna on Tuesday evening (the star reported), the club management around managing director Lars Ricken avoided a clear commitment to the 36-year-old.
On the sidelines of the game in the premier class, BVB advisor Matthias Sammer already expressed more than clear criticism of Şahin’s team: “If we proceed analytically, this team is in a bad state physically and mentally,” he said on Prime Video. “When you see that today, you think the foundation isn’t there. Unfortunately, the team can’t defend either. They can’t attack either.”
Şahin has coached BVB since July 2024. Previously, he was an assistant under Edin Terzić. His successor doesn’t have much time to get the unsettled team back on its feet: Werder Bremen will be guests at Signal-Iduna-Park on Saturday afternoon.
