Handball World Cup
Live on free TV: Where you can see all German games in the main round
The DHB selection is in the main round of the Handball World Cup. Fans can watch all German games as well as individual games from other nations live and free of charge.
On paper, everything went according to plan for the DHB team in the group phase of the Handball World Cup in Denmark, Croatia and Norway. Alfred Gislason’s team achieved three wins in the games against Poland (35:28), Switzerland (31:29) and the Czech Republic (29:22). Not always confident, but effective.
Although the interim goal had been achieved for the time being, the national coach was dissatisfied with his team’s evaluation of chances after the last group game: “I’m amazed at how we’re making life difficult for ourselves. The chances we missed in the first half aren’t really worth it normal.” This actually took revenge in the 30:40 defeat against defending champions Denmark.
Handball World Cup: ARD and ZDF show DHB games
The public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have secured the rights for the German games at the Handball World Cup. Good news for TV viewers: you can watch all games from the DHB selection for free.
Now it continues against Italy, who Germany will face on Thursday, January 23rd. The game starts at 6 p.m. and will be shown live on ZDF. The last main round game against Tunisia will take place on Saturday, January 25th at 8:30 p.m. – and will also be broadcast by ZDF.
The games can also be streamed in the media libraries of public broadcasters. If you don’t have the opportunity to watch the main round games on TV or in the media library, you can alternatively watch them in the ARD audio library, for example using the “Sportschau” app.
This channel shows games without German participation
If you want to watch every game of the Handball World Cup, even those without German participation, you can’t avoid a subscription. For this World Cup, the streaming platform Sportdeutschland.TV won the race for the rights to all games. The German games are also included.

But the sports channel shows up to 15 games from other nations on free TV. While it was already clear before the World Cup which group games would be broadcast, the broadcasts of the main round and knockout games depend on the further course of the tournament and the performance of the German team. Broadcasts of a quarter-final are planned for January 28th and 29th. The station will also show the two semi-final games (January 30th and 31st) and the final on February 2nd live.
