A suspected climate activist disrupts the Danish handball team’s World Cup game and spreads confetti on the parquet. Coach Nicolai Jacobsen acts in front of the security personnel.

A suspected climate activist caused an interruption of several minutes in the Handball World Cup game between Denmark and the Czech Republic. Shortly after the start of the second half, the man in Herning ran onto the parquet and distributed orange confetti in the center circle. He wore a T-shirt with the name of the Danish climate group nød Bremsen and was able to continue his protest unhindered for a few seconds amid boos from the audience.

Several blurry photos show the action on the organization’s Instagram account. It says: “Lukas, who takes part in the nød Bremsen, briefly disrupted the handball game between Denmark and the Czech Republic in Jyske Bank Boxen this evening when he ran onto the pitch and threw confetti.” And it continues: “I grew up playing handball and want the next generation to have the same opportunities.” But if their climate destruction continues, our children will not even have a safe place to live.”
