Summer fairy tale affair
DFB is suing ex-President twenties for damages of 24 million euros
The DFB continues to struggle with the summer fairy tale affair. The association wants to have the possible financial damage reimbursed by its ex-President twenties.
The German Football Association (DFB) has sued its former President Theo Zwanziger in the so-called summer fairy tale affair for damages in the millions. The Frankfurt am Main Regional Court confirmed the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Wednesday edition) a complaint with a value in dispute of 24 million euros. The background to this is possible financial damage caused by the DFB in connection with allegations around sliding plants or could still arise, according to the “SZ”.
DFB does not want to comment publicly
In particular, the damage is that the tax office has dismissed the association for the year 2006, because a payment of over 6.7 million euros was allegedly been wrongly asserted as an operating expense in April 2005 and the association has therefore paid too few taxes have. The sum was declared as a payment to the FIFA football association for a later canceled gala and is said to have actually been intended to repay a loan.
The DFB did not want to comment on the lawsuit compared to the “SZ”. “In general, the DFB is kept to secure possible claims for damages. He also has to ensure that such claims do not expire,” said the association in a statement.
