Double Seefeld triumph: victories for crossbowers and violinists
Double victory of the combiners in Tyrol: First, Nathalie Armbruster gains sensational and only loses the fight against tears. Then Vinzenz Geiger makes the German triumph surprisingly perfect.
With the overall victory in the first Seefeld triple for women, the Nordic combined Nathalie Armbruster has made a sensation. The prospective high school graduate also won the overall World Cup three and a half weeks before the World Cup in Trondheim with her unexpected triumph. On Friday, the 19-year-old had become third at the start, and on Saturday she won the second competition. Finally, she was the best again in Tyrol.
The Oberstdorfer Vinzenz Geiger (27) made the German triumph on the final day with the triple victory for men. In an exciting final sprint, he surprisingly prevailed against the favorite Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber. Third, his team -mate Jens Luraas frequently.
“A brilliant day,” said Geiger, who had been fifth in races. “I just stayed cool.” At the twelfth edition of the triplet it was Geiger’s first triumph in Seefeld. He won the triple as the first German since Eric Frenzel eight years ago.
“I am overjoyed,” had previously raved about the crossbow in the ARD. Already on Saturday she could not hold back the tears. On the end of the end, she finished the Germany flag. “The moment that I will keep in mind forever, how I walk over the finish line with the flag,” said Armbruster. Between jumping and racing, as on the days before, she had eaten pasta with tomato sauce – a profitable ritual.
Series winner is disqualified
In Seefeld, the results of three different formats are taken from day to day. The competition was also held for women for the first time. National coach Florian Aichinger celebrated a “historical day” after Armbruster’s victory on Saturday, which a German combined person had never won a World Cup race.
“That gives a huge push for the World Cup, that does something with self -confidence. Of course the World Cup is something completely different, there can be a lot,” said Armbruster. In 2023 she fetched the Norwegian Gyda Westvold Hansen World Cup silver.
In Seefeld, the Black Forest benefited from the fact that the Norwegian World Cup series winner Ida Marie Hagen was disqualified on Saturday due to a non-compliance-compliant jump suit. The Norwegian association was not successful.
With a lead of 53 seconds, Armbruster ended as a leap (97 meters) into the 7.5-kilometer race and even expanded its distance from the Norwegian world champion Hansen. In the end she had 1: 24.3 minutes ahead.
