The governors of the provinces of Patagonia issued a joint statement this Sunday, in which they expressed their support and commitment in the fight against forest fires that affect the mountain region. Chubut, Río Negro and Neuquén are the most harmed territories by the claims, which has led to a coordinated response between the provinces to deal with the emergency.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the provincial leaders of La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego expressed the need to work together “regardless of provincial borders.”
They also highlighted the need for a unified action to combat fires and protect the affected communities. In this sense, measures aimed at strengthening the prevention and control of fire have been promoted, with the aim of preventing this type of disasters being repeated in the future.

The fires in Patagonia do not give truce and already consumed thousands of hectares of native forests and also private houses in different parts of the region, including Epuyén, Puerto Madryn, Atilio Viglione, El Bolsón, Nahuel Huapi National Park, Lanín National Park, among other places in the territory.
In this context, the United Provinces of the South, an alliance that was formed around a year ago and that aims to bring before the government the claims that the jurisdictions involved have, issued a statement through the official account of the social network X (former Twitter), who brought the signatures of all governors Ignacio Torres (Chubut), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro), Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz), Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego) and Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa).
“The governors of Patagonia show our support and commitment in the fight against fires that affect the mountain area of our provinces. Neuquén, Chubut and Río Negro, in particular, are being hard affected by these accidents. This scenario forces us to give a regional, unified and coordinated response. Today, more than ever, we are working together to combat fires and protect our communities, ”the statement outlines first.
And he adds: “As part of this interprovincial action, we promote measures to strengthen the tasks of fire prevention and control, and thus prevent this type of situations from being repeated in the next seasons. The collaboration of all actors, regardless of provincial borders, is essential to protect what we value most: the security of our families, the well -being of our communities and the integrity of our natural resources. ”
Finally, the letter concludes with a firm commitment of the Patagonian governors to continue working together for the care of the region. The critical situation in the mountain range has evidenced the need for coordinated policies and concrete actions to mitigate the effects of fire and protect the natural resources of Patagonia.
“From Patagonia we reiterate our commitment to continue working together for the care of our region,” concludes the statement.
