World champion Laura Nolte fetches EM title in the Monobob
Bobpilotin Laura Nolte lacks tiny for the World Cup victory, but it is enough for the European Championship title. Lisa Buckwitz struggles something.
World champion Laura Nolte has become a European champion in Monobob for the second time in Lillehammer. The two-man Olympic champion of Beijing could not save her lead after the first run in the World Cup race, which was held in parallel. The simultaneous Breeana Walker from Australia and US pilot Kaysha Love still rank first. For the Nolte, which was third in the World Cup, it was the second European Championship title after 2023 in Altenberg.
The 26-year-old from BSC Winterberg presented best time on the Olympic Railway in Lillehammer in the first run, but made minimal driving errors in the second round. In the end, only seven hundredths of a second were missing for the World Cup victory. “Annoying to lose two places in the second run, but it was very tight. In the second run there were also a few small mistakes in it,” said Nolte.
The Lisa Buckwitz from BRC Thuringia, which was already in the World Cup, who already had three victories this winter, came to five, but was still in third place behind the fourth-placed Swiss Hasler. “It’s okay, I slipped a little in the first run. The others probably found something else why they suddenly became in the monobob so quickly,” said Buckwitz regarding the settings at the unit bob. Wiesbadener Kim Kalicki landed in ten place as tenth.
