Even in team combination of men, no German medal
Waiting for the first German medal at the Ski World Cup continues. In the men’s team combination, a catch-up from slalom-ace Straßer is not enough. The big coup succeeds in a ski nation.
At the Ski World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, the German team remains without a medal. In the team combination of the men from departure and Slalom, Simon Jocher and Linus Straßer landed in eighth place. After Jocher’s departure in the morning, Straßer caught up ten places in the decisive slalom, but a podium was missing 0.77 seconds.
Switzerland celebrated a triple triumph: Departure World Champion Franjo von Allmen won together with Loic Meillard Gold. Silver went to Alexis Monney together with Tanguy Nef. Stefan Rogentin and Marc Rochat made third place a complete, federal podium perfect.
From the couch to the slopes
Jocher had spontaneously moved into the only German team because his downhill colleague Romed Baumann failed. He had already driven home and was located on the couch when the national coach called him and ordered him back to Saalbach. “The preparation was of course anything but optimal,” said Jocher. In the departure he was only 18 – Straßer succeeded in the slalom, but it was not enough for the medal coup.
