With the exception of Daniel Tschofenig, everyone in the red-white-red quintet ended up in the top six at least once in three attempts in Zhangjiakou. Stefan Kraft was fourth twice, Daniel Huber second and sixth. Manuel Fettner won the first heat, Jan Hörl was sixth in the third.
Besides Fettner, the Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud and the Russian Evgeny Klimov each had the best points. After today’s second training session (7 a.m.), trainer Andreas Widholzl will decide which quartet will qualify on Saturday for the decision on Sunday.
Only two Austrians made it through the first women’s training session: In the second jump, Eva Pinkelnig was ninth and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz was 19th, their best placings. Lisa Eder is training today, Sophie Sorschag will only get to know the ski jump on Saturday one hour before the competition in a trial run. Eder and Sorschag had been nominated for Sara Marita Kramer and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger.
