Camille Rast has chosen the new slalom world champion and gained the fourth gold medal in Saalbach-Hinterglemm from Switzerland. Behind it was allowed to cheer Wendy Holdener (+0.46 seconds), the bronze medal in front of 16,700 spectators won the Vorarlbergian Katharina Liensberger (+1.32 seconds). US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin went out as fifth, Katharina troops ended up in seventh place.
Rast has also been the first Swiss slalom world champion since Vreni Schneider in 1991 in Saalbach. Since then there have been only two medals, one of which Holdener won with silver 2017 in St. Moritz. “Everything has to fit for a medal, everything worked out, I am satisfied. I was mentally ready, I wanted to enjoy all day. The cool team spirit is very important in the team A podium with Wendy, that’s cool.”
