Anthony Elanga lose their nerve in the FA Cup penalty shoot-out. Then he becomes the victim of racist attacks.
Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga has been racially abused on social media after his crucial failed attempt in the shoot-out of the fourth round match.
Elanga shot well over the goal on Friday evening after converting 15 penalties – the embarrassing end of the Reds against the second division was sealed.
Immediately afterwards, taunts and insults against the 19-year-old Swede hailed via Twitter and Instagram. Instagram has already had numerous disparaging posts removed.
Ronaldo comforts unlucky Elanga
Elanga, on the other hand, received immediate support from his teammates. Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo comforted the unlucky raven on the way to the dressing room. Marcus Rashford and David de Gea sent messages of support to Elanga via Twitter.
“Anthony Elanga. Get your head back up right now,” Rashford posted, followed by a heart emoji.
Elanga joined Manchester United youth team in 2015. So far this season, the offensive talent has made nine competitive appearances, but mostly not over the full distance.
