Title fights in Trondheim
Hennig misses cross -country podium – large slump for men
After a days of constant rain, violent snowfall suddenly begins in Trondheim. This presents athletes with challenges. The women get along better than the men.
Katharina Hennig missed a medal coup at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim. The 28 -year -old long runner had started in Norwegian snow floors, but subsided in the second part of the race and was seventh in the end.
The Swede Ebba Andersson secured the title over ten kilometers in classic technology. As in the skiathlon, she prevailed just ahead of Therese Johaug. The Norwegian ski star was hardly progressing in the target sprint with deeper and broken trace. Bronze went to Swede Frida Karlsson.
“I’m super happy about seventh place,” said Hennig on ZDF. Pia Fink landed in eleventh place as the second best German. Team sprint Olympic champion Victoria Carl ran in 14th place.
“What I really liked: The girls all attacked from the first meter away,” said team boss Peter Schlickenrieder. “That’s how you have to do it.” The team result encourages the season.
Kläbo gets third titles in the third race
In extremely difficult conditions, women went much better than for German men. They had to accept a hearty defeat. No athlete from the Schlickenrieder team ran under the top 20.
At Johannes Kläbo’s next gold coup, Friedrich Moch was in 25th place in the best German. “I didn’t get along. I almost had the feeling that I dug myself,” said the disappointed moch.
At Norway’s next cross -country skiing party – given the weather – very well -filled spectators ranks, Kläbo led the next triple success in front of his compatriots Erik Valnes and Harald Östberg Amundsen. The Norwegian star won his third title in the third race and a total of his twelfth gold medal at World Championships.
Season medal for German cross-country skiers in a long way
After a days of constant rain, snowfall began in the morning, which became more and more violent during the day. “It doesn’t have much to do with a nice and easy running. This is a pure fight,” said Schlickenrieder. The spectators still had a lot of fun and celebrated a snow party in the Granasen Skienter.
Behind Moch, who had kept with the top group in the skiathlon up to the last kilometer, Albert Kuchler (29th) and Janosch Brugger (37th) were left behind. In this form, it should also be extremely difficult for the German Ski Association (DSV) with a relay medal. Two years ago in Slovenian Planica, Moch and Co. had surprisingly won bronze.
