In the second attempt: Ogunleye at Hallen European Championships in the final
After gold at Olympia in Paris, Yemisi Ogunleye is also one of the Favoritians in the shot put at the Hallen European Championship. In qualification she needs a little start -up time.
Kunkenschraft Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunleye has certainly qualified for the final of the European Halle Championships in Apeldoorn, Dutch. The 26 -year -old Mannheim woman exceeded the required width of 18.80 meters with 18.95 meters in the second attempt and was able to save strength and nerves for the final on Sunday evening. At first she only succeeded in 17.10 meters, in the second attempt it worked better.
At the German indoor championships in Dortmund, Ogunleye had a personal best with 20.27 meters two weeks ago. The Hallen World Cup second of the year also underlined its ambitions to another international medal. In Apeldoorn, open-air European champion Jessica sign from the Netherlands with 19.92 meters clearly the best athlete in qualification, but otherwise nobody was better than Ogunleye.
The other two German starters Katharina Maisch and Alina Kenzel landed six and eight with 18.48 meters and 18.31 meters. They also made it into the final of the best eight athletes.
