Ski-ace Odermatt makes triumph in the overall World Cup perfect

Marco Odermatt remains a class of its own in the ski circus. He now also makes the renewed coup in the overall World Cup perfect – and another triumph on the side. Also a German cheering.

Ski star Marco Odermatt has now also secured the triumph in the overall World Cup. The best alpine athlete of the present was second behind compatriot Loic Meillard at Hafjell’s giant slalom. As a result, he expanded the lead overall to 635 points in the overall ranking – in the event of the outstanding five races, the fourth large crystal ball is no longer to be taken in a row.

In practice, he had been able to celebrate in Norway before the race because his first pursuer Henrik Kristoffersen will no longer contest all races at the upcoming season finale in the USA.

Happy end after “bumpy path”

Odermatt was also able to celebrate the early win of discipline rating in the giant slalom in Hafjell. He can no longer be displaced from the top in the last event. The 27-year-old also has the small crystal ball in the Super-G-and he also runs before the last race. So the chances are very good that the Confederation gains all discipline ratings that he drives around as well as last winter.

“It was a bumpy way, but it’s fantastic,” said Odermatt, referring to a small phase of weakness at the beginning of the season. Behind Meillard and Odermatt, Thomas Tumler came in third in Hafjell, making a triple coup of the currently dominant Swiss perfect.

Grammel with exclamation mark

From a German perspective, too, there was a positive news from Norway: Anton Grammel became tenth and celebrated his best placement in the World Cup. The 26-year-old had only started from Zwischenrank 25 in the final round. But then he managed a brave journey, the best time in front of the Odermatt, Meillard and Co. and the leap into the top ten.

Grammel defended his rank in the top 25 in discipline rating and can therefore be part of the World Cup final in Sun Valley (USA). “I am very satisfied with my second round,” he summed up and said on the upcoming journey of America: “This is really cool and a reward for the season.”
