Bob World Cup
Two-bob-Olympic champions Nolte/Levi get World Cup gold
Now it also works with the World Cup title in the two-way bob for the Olympic winner duo. The Germans celebrate a triple success in Lake Placid.
The Beijing Olympic champions Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi drove up their first World Cup title in two-way bobs. In the title fights in Lake Placid, the Winterberger Nolte prevailed after four runs with 0.52 seconds ahead of Kim Kalicki from Wiesbaden, who drove with Leonie Fiebig. Defending champion Lisa Buckwitz from BRC Thuringia came third with Kira Lipperheide at the end of the World Cup in the US state of New York.
After Bronze 2021 in Altenberg, the fall 2023 in St. Moritz and silver in Winterberg in 2024, the Duo Nolte/Levi finally raced to gold. “We were still missing the title, we are just happy,” said Nolte, while her screwdriver and girlfriend Levi said: “Just horny.”
In the ice channel on Mount van Hoevenberg, the 26-year-old Nolte laid the foundation for her final gold run with the best time again in the third run. With 0.40 seconds, she developed a comfortable lead over Kalicki and drove the race home with the fourth best time.
Defending champion Buckwitz the fastest at the start
The dethroned defending champion Buckwitz once again convinced at the start with the best times, but had too many small mistakes in the demanding path that added up.
Kalicki, world champion of 2023 in St. Moritz, showed the clearly finer line and thus fought off the attack by Buckwitz on silver. Three US bobs followed the three German sledges.
