FC Bayern mourns long -time President Scherer
Treasurer, President, Supervisory Board: Fritz Scherer was instrumental in the head of FC Bayern for many years. Now he died shortly after his 85th birthday.
FC Bayern mourns the loss of his long -time club president Fritz Scherer. As the German football record champion announced, Scherer died around a month after his 85th birthday.
Born in Augsburg, he was active in various functions at the head of Bavaria for more than three decades. “With him as President, our club pushed into new spheres,” said his long -time companion Uli Hoeneß.
“Fritz Scherer was an architect of today’s FC Bayern,” praised club boss Herbert Hainer. The university professor for business administration was treasurer of Bavaria from 1979 to 1985. After that he became president – at that time the Munich record champions became. In 1994 Franz Beckenbauer replaced him at the head of the association. By 2012, Scherer continued as Vice President. He also belongs to the supervisory board for many years.

“Many milestones of FC Bayern are closely connected to the name Fritz Scherer. He deserves the highest respect,” said long-time CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in a message. Scherer leaves his wife Claudia, his daughter Katja and two grandchildren.
