National soccer team
Kimmich and Co. in the retro jersey against Italy
This time the jersey is not pink. The national team plays against Italy in a white retro look. The DFB celebrates its 125th birthday. Therefore, history is placed on history instead of a lot of color.
Very nostalgic, classic white, with black round collar and sleeve cuffs: The national football team will play the quarter-final games of the Nations League against Italy in a special jersey.
As the German Football Association announced, Captain Joshua Kimmich and his colleagues will run on Thursday (8:45 p.m./ARD) in Milan and on Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Dortmund with a retro shirt to celebrate the 125th birthday of the association this year.
Memory of World Cup title 1974
The design is designed to the 1974 World Cup when Germany celebrated the second title at the home tournament. “The jersey is made of a pinstriped fabric and has sleeves, a collar with a circular neckline and a flag print on the neck”, the DFB described the jersey, which is also worn by the women’s team in April.
In chest height, the sponsor logo and a “specially embroidered coat of arms are attached to the 125th anniversary of the DFB – based on the special badge that hangs on the location of the association in Leipzig”.
Fans can buy the specialization in a limited edition online from the DFB or sponsor Adidas and in selected shops of the supplier. The prices vary between 75 (short arm children) and 110 euros (adult long -sleeved). Adidas equips the DFB with jerseys until the end of 2026, then the association changes to Nike.
The special anniversary will thus replace the last worn shirts for the March parts that the DFB presented for the home European Championship. In March 2024, the pink -colored away jersey had caused a lot of attention and also provided outdoor fashion debates on the Internet. With the absence of any color elements, the retro shirt will hardly cause such reactions.
