As everyone knows, 3/24 marks the National Day of Memory for Truth and Justice.
The decision to schedule said match towards Qatar 2022 it was from the Conmebol, which to top it off is the last double date of the playoffs, which presumes a conflict when rescheduling it.
“This date was declared a National Holiday with the aim of keeping alive the memory and repudiation of the genocidal dictatorship that devastated our country from March 24, 1976. This murderous dictatorship committed kidnappings, disappearances, rapes, torture, murders, theft of babies and each and every one of the crimes that appear in the Argentine Penal Code and some that are not even in it.This is the reason why on 24/3, during each year, the Argentine people mobilize and express the demand for MEMORY, TRUTH AND JUSTICE, under the slogans of WE DO NOT FORGET, WE DO NOT FORGIVE AND WE DO NOT RECONCIL”, says the statement.
They also remembered “The shameful use of our people’s passion for soccer, to turn the 1978 World Championship into a propaganda plant against those of us who denounced the human rights violations that were being committed at that very moment. We remember that The championship that took place in June of that year was also used to harass relatives who queued to report the disappearances that were occurring before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the OAS”, they expressed.
“For these reasons, we, the undersigned, have come to request a personal interview with the President of the AFA, Mr. Claudio Tapia, so that he personally intercedes with FIFA in demanding a change in the date of the Argentina vs. Venezuela match”, concludes the statement.
