EM final referee whistles first Italy duel
The UEFA sets one of its best referees for the quarter-final first leg of the national team in Italy. The Frenchman Letexier could also have crucial importance for the second leg.
The referee of the European Championship final heads the first quarter-finals of the German national soccer team in Italy. The UEFA divided the Frenchman François Letexier for the game of the Nations League on Thursday (8:45 p.m./ARD) in Milan. The 35-year-old is the shooting star among the European referees and already had some experiences with the DFB stars-good and bad.
Letexier whistled the games of Borussia Dortmund against FC Barcelona (2: 3) and the violent defeat of FC Bayern Munich near Feyenoord Rotterdam (0: 3) this season. In the Nations League, he headed the national team of the national team in Bosnia-Herzegovina (2-1) in October.
EM final as a highlight
Letexier had his biggest appearance so far as the referee of the European Championship final in the Berlin Olympic Stadium between Spain and England. He was the most recent endgame referee, but not a good reviews for his commitment in the 2-1 triumph of the Iberer.
Letexier could get great importance with his next use. Five DFB players are pre-contaminated with yellow and would be closed in Dortmund in the second leg on Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL). Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, Nico Schlotterbeck, David Raum and Robert Andrich are affected. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, Letexier Kimmich had shown his first yellow card in the competition.
