“Self -determined”: Rettig’s recommendation for dealing with the AfD
How to meet the AfD? DFB Managing Director Andreas Rettig wants less “opponents-oriented tactics”. He looks at the World Cup in the USA with mixed feelings.
DFB Managing Director Andreas Rettig (61) wishes a self-determined approach in dealing with the AfD. In politics you shouldn’t “face the blue color and freeze. I would like to tackle things as a good coach would do, namely self -determined and active,” said Rettig RTL/NTV in an interview before the Nations League quarterfinals against Italy.
“Don’t look too much at what the opponent does, but to develop strategies and advance things on his own conviction. More activity in the matter and less opponent -oriented tact,” recommended.
The AfD became the second strongest force in the federal election with 20.8 percent. Your regional associations in Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony are considered secure right-wing extremists.
“You no longer know who is a friend and who is enemy”
After the election of Donald Trump as the new US president, the managing director of the German Football Association of the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA is looking forward to mixed feelings.
“In these troubled times, we actually find that the value scaffolding and social views change. Who would have thought that we would have kept the United States as we do today,” said Rettig (61).
“You no longer know who is a friend and who is enemy. The fact that the USA is the next host was. You knew that. Until recently, you were very happy, now a drop of bitterness may have come in,” said Rettig.
The German national team will compete in Milan on Thursday (8:45 p.m./ARD) and on Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Dortmund against Italy. The World Cup will take place in the coming year from June 11th to July 19th. At the largest edition of the tournament so far there are 48 teams that score a total of 104 games over 16 venues.
