Sadio Mane named African Cup of Nations Player of the Year

The forward of Liverpool FC and the Senegal national team was named the best player in the African Cup of Nations in football. This was announced on Monday, February 7, by the press service of the tournament on Twitter.

The footballer played in all seven matches of the tournament, in which he scored three goals and made two assists, writes REGNUM.

In the final game against Egypt, Sadio Mane did not convert a penalty in the 7th minute, but corrected himself in the 11-meter post-match series and brought victory to his team.

On February 6, the Senegal national team won the African Cup of Nations for the first time, defeating the Egyptian national team in the final. Senegal’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy commented on the victory in the African Cup final over Egypt. According to Sport-Express, he noted that the team worked hard for this trophy, and that he was very proud of this victory.

Earlier in February, the Catalan football club (FC) Barcelona announced the transfer of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The agreement between the club and the player is valid until June 2025. It contains a clause that will allow the striker to leave Spain next summer. The compensation amount is €100 million.
