Ex-Bayern talent from China dies at the age of 18
Great grief at FC Bayern: Their ex-talent Guo Jiaxuan died of his serious brain injuries-and his family has questions.
The Chinese junior football player Guo Jiaxuan, who was once active in the talent division of FC Bayern Munich, died of the consequences of a serious injury. His club Beijing Guoan confirmed the death of the 18-year-old defender on Wednesday evening (local time)-one day before his 19th birthday. Guo had already been declared brain dead weeks ago. “We lost a child who loved football,” said the Beijing club now.
Family criticizes process
Guo had suffered serious injuries in Madrid in early February in Madrid when an opponent reported to his head in a duel. Guo lost consciousness and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. A little later, the doctors in Spain found his brain death.
Subsequently, Guo was flown back to China for further investigations. His family demanded information and insight into recordings of the accident. Guo’s brother complained about the lack of support from Beijing Guoan and the Beijing Football Association. The association asserted in the communication to the death of the teenager that he wanted to continue doing everything to give the family the necessary support.
FC Bayern mourns for Guo Jiaxuan
Guo was considered a great talent and made the leap into the U17 national team in China in 2023. In the same year he trained in FC Bayern World Squad, a team of the German record champion compiled from international talents under the age of 19. “The club’s thoughts are among his family and friends,” said the Munich.
