The change imposed by the FIA ​​that affects vehicles

The Federation introduced a modification into the technical specifications of vehicles for the China Grand Prix. This change includes adjustments in aerodynamics and chassis configuration, with the aim of improving safety and competitiveness on the track. Specifically, modifications were implemented in the front and rear ailerons to reduce air resistance and improve curves. In addition, the suspension was adjusted to optimize the grip under different track conditions.

The Federation detailed in a statement that, between the end of the 2024 season and the beginning of 2025, the FIA ​​exercised the authority granted by article 3.15.1 of the Technical Regulations to introduce new or more challenging load deflection tests for the front wing, the upper rear wing and the rear beam wing.

In that sense, They stressed that the FIA ​​asked the teams to use cameras in free training sessions to monitor track deformations exhibited during the Australian Grand Prix.

In addition, they explained that after analyzing the images of the deformations of the rear wing combined with the static deflexions measured within the FIA ​​garage in Melbourne, the FIA ​​concluded that there are enough reasons to introduce a harder test from the next Chinese Grand Prix on the upper rear wing.

In article 3.15.17, introduced in 2025, which gives authority to the Federation, it is established that if 75 kg of vertical load are applied at any end of the main plane of the rear wing, the distance between the main plane and the flap (also known as “slot space”) should not vary in more than 2 mm. Thus, in the next Grand Prix this rear limit will be reduced to 0.5 mm. Although for the short term of warning, they added that there will be a tolerance of 0.25 mm to this new limit.
