National League quarter-finals
Italy’s fans whistle at German national anthem
The Nation’s League quarter-finals between Italy and Germany has the first excitement before the kick-off. First the home fans whistle in Milan – shortly afterwards the guests from Germany.
Italy’s football fans whistled the German national team before the National League quarter-finals during the anthem. The music in the San Siro in Milan was therefore gradually regulated louder to drown out the numerous whistles. Whistle during a national anthem are considered rather unusual in international football.
As a small return carriage, the German followers also whistled at the Italian hymn. Around 3,500 fans took their way to Milan and organized a small fan march before the game in the evening. The second leg will be held on Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Dortmund. Germany last won a duel with host Italy in February 1986.
The Nations League final tournament will be held either in Germany or in Italy in early June.
