For the third time no games for Schöffmann

For the third time no games for Schöffmann

Because of a positive corona test, the 29-year-old had to move from the team quarters to the quarantine hotel yesterday, so the Carinthian missed the parallel giant slalom scheduled for today (finals from 8.36 a.m. on ORF1), the only Olympic race in this snowboarding division. These are the third games that Schöffmann can only watch: in 2014 she narrowly missed qualifying, in 2018 a fibula fracture prevented her from participating. She had already been nominated and had the ÖOC outfit behind her before the accident happened at the World Cup in Bansko. Her longtime partner Alexander Payer was there at the time and was the first to hear about the diagnosis. Shortly afterwards he left for the games in South Korea without his partner. “It’s not easy and you don’t forget it in a week,” Schöffmann spoke of a small trauma before the Beijing games.

Julia Dujmovits – she is driving with a swollen knee –, Daniela Ulbing, Benjamin Karl, Lukas Mathies, Andreas Prommegger and Payer will be at the start for Austria today.
