“Throws up”: Preuss loses yellow jersey and feels pressure

A biathlon race is still pending in this World Cup winter. But Franziska Preuss’ starting position has worsened. The decision has already been made for men.

Franziska Preuss’ big dream threatens to burst. After her fifth place, the 31 -year -old biathlete in the persecution of Oslo congratulated Fair her toughest competitor and new leader Lou JeanMonnot. The French woman slips through her victory into the yellow jersey of the overall leader and, with five points ahead of Prussia, goes into the last race of this winter on Sunday (1:15 p.m./ARD and Eurosport).

With sprint winner Prusser, after a total of three shooting errors, two of them in the third contribution, outweighed the disappointment. “It hurts today,” Preuss admitted to the ARD without taking the sunglasses. Standing about the two mistakes, she said: “No idea what was going on. Maybe it was nerves.” Her five teammates did not make it under the top 20.

Preuss has not yet forged a plan to realize the happy ending. “I have to let it sink now, I honestly don’t know that yet,” said the Bavarian, who, according to Martina Glagow (2002/03), Kati Wilhelm (2005/06), Andrea Henkel (2006/07), Magdalena Neuner (2007/08, 2009/10 and 2011/12) and Laura Dahlmeier (2016/17), the sixth German overall winner.

Laegreid DETHRONT Dominator Bö

The decision has already been made for men. Biathlon star Johannes Thingnes Bö was dethroned by his Norwegian compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid. Due to his victory, the heir to the throne can no longer be displaced by the top position. Therefore, Bö will say goodbye to the big stage in the mass start without his sixth overall World Cup victory.

The two competitors fought a duel at eye level until the last shooting – with the worse ending for the dominator of the past few years. Bö put the last shot next to it, while Laegreid hit all the windows as before. At the finish, his lead was 15.5 seconds.

At the finish line, Bö showed himself a fair loser and considered Laegreid’s performance with great appreciation. “He is an extremely deserved winner,” Bö told the Norwegian TV station TV 2 after his penultimate race. “He is making progress every year and now he is the very best. I have a lot of respect.”

Nawrath as a tenth Best DSV ski hunter

Philipp Nawrath took tenth place as the best DSV ski hunter. He shot twice, but worked six ranks forward. “I think he has performed well. Too bad about the last shooting, without one mistake he could have passed a little further,” said sports director Felix Bitterling.

Justus Strelow lost ground in the sprint after a decent start and had to be satisfied with 16th place. The 28-year-old had to do two extra rounds. However, it was “again the story that has been following us all the time,” said Bitterling and struggling with the many penalty rounds of his protégés. “We have to work very, very stringent in summer to turn it off. Otherwise we have no order in the world elite.”
