Figure skating couple Hase/Wolodin Holt WM-Silber

Minerva Hase and Nikita Wolodin show an almost perfect freestyle at the Icfit World Cup. Nevertheless, the top German couple has to give up narrowly.

The German Topduo Minerva Hase and Nikita Wolodin got silver at the Ichart Run World Championship in the USA and only missed gold thinly. The two 25-year-olds showed an almost perfect freestyle in the couple running competition and had a total of 219.08 points.

The Japanese Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara (219.79 points) won the title in Boston, which showed hardly any weakness in both the short program and in the freestyle. Third place went to Sara Conti/Niccolò Macii (210.47 points) from Italy.

Shake after a short program too big

Hase/Wolodin almost made the first German World Cup gold in seven years. At that time, the Olympic champion Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot triumphed in Milan. Hase/Wolodin, who were still in third place after the short program, could no longer catch up with the competitors from Japan.

At the European Championship in the Estonian capital Tallinn almost two months ago and in December at the Grand Prix final, which is the most important competition after the big championships, the two were still on the podium.

Wolodin is still missing the German passport for the Olympics

The World Cup thirds of the past year once again underlined the ambitions to a German figure skating medal at the 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. However, the Wolodin, born in Russia, still needs the German passport to take part in the major event.

The biggest hurdle is the mandatory German test. Even before the start of the Olympic season, the top couple wants to tick off this topic and then concentrate entirely on sport.

Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel, as the second German couple, remained behind the expectations in the freestyle, as in the short program and ended up in 187.72 points.
