Gripping cup fight: Rüdiger heads Real Madrid into the final
Defender David Alaba experiences a used day. Nevertheless, the royal ones move into the cup final. A German international becomes a match winner for Real Madrid.
Antonio Rüdiger headed Real Madrid to the Spanish Cup final. The goal of the German national soccer player in the extension to 4: 4 (3: 4, 1: 1) in the semi-final second leg against Real Sociedad San Sebastián was enough to move into the final of the Copa del Rey. The team of coach Carlo Ancelotti won the first leg 1-0.
Other Barrenetxea took the lead for San Sebastián in the 16th minute. Madrid’s striker Endrick (30th) scored 1-1 in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. In the middle of the second half it became a gripping and crazy game. San Sebastián again took the lead through an unfortunate own goal of Madrid’s defender David Alaba (72nd). After the 1: 3 deficit, Real Madrid turned on: Jude Bellingham (82nd) and Aurelien Tchouameni (86.) again put 3: 3. But with a late goal from Oyarzabal (90.+3), the guests saved themselves into the extension.
Rüdiger comes into play for unfortunate Alaba
At the beginning of the extension, Rüdiger came into the game for the unfortunate acting Alaba – and became a match winner in the 115th minute with his header in front of a home backdrop.
The opponent in the final cup is the winner of the game between Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona. Both clubs face each other on Wednesday evening (9:30 p.m./DAZN). In the first leg, both teams had separated 4: 4.
