No new contract
Müller tells FC Bayern Brav Servus – but with a clear undertone
After 25 years there is an end: Thomas Müller and FC Bayern go separate paths in summer. The fact that he had a different wish, Müller makes no secret of it.
In a 90-second clip full of goosebumps moments, Thomas Müller summarizes a unique success story at his heart club FC Bayern Munich in his farewell declaration. Pictures of unforgettable triumphs, of important goals, cheers with teammates and fans as well as as a child with Bayern jersey in bed and finally as a young professional-all of this is football history in a few weeks.
After a quarter of a century, the 35 -year -old record player ends with the record champion – at least as a professional. Sequel follows? Sometime? Who knows? Unlike his world champion colleague Mats Hummels the day before, Müller did not announce his career end in summer after the 3-1 of Bayern at FC Augsburg. Where he sees his further path is now the exciting question. A football adventure outside of Bavaria may appeal to him, and there is hot speculation about an engagement in the USA.
Thomas Müller: Corresponds to “not my personal wishes”
Less than twelve hours after the next injury strike with a serious thigh injury from Jamal Musiala, which failed in crucial weeks in the master fight and in the Champions League quarter-finals against Inter Milan, the Bayern fans had to be strong again.
In a letter to the followers, the fan favorite confirmed what had been in the room for days. FC Bayern no longer gives him a new contract. The original Bavarian now caused clarity via social media. And it shimmered more than just that he did not approve of the result.
“Even after all the years, regardless of my minute of play, I still have a lot of fun standing on the pitch with the boys and together for our colors to fight for titles. I could have imagined this role well next year,” wrote Müller.
And further: “However, the association has deliberately decided not to negotiate a new contract for the next season. Even if this did not meet my personal wishes, it is important that the association will follow its beliefs.” He respects this step. A unique Bayern career comes to an end in Munich after a quarter of a century.
Farewell game and participation in club World Cup
The final talks took place on the two days before the Augsburg game between Bavaria’s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Müller. “The most important thing is that we have found a common solution,” said Dreesen. “One of the biggest player personalities in this club” not only does not want to lose the Bayern boss for the future.
Initial agreements fit. Müller gets a farewell game in the Allianz Arena. The first since his Bayern buddy Bastian Schweinsteiger. And the contract is basically extended briefly so that Müller can start for Bavaria at the club World Cup from June 15 to July 13.
Further marketing activities are also planned. President Herbert Hainer described Müller as the “epitome of a Bavarian picture book career”. This should definitely be carried into the future.
FC Bayern: Cader planning was decisive
The boy, who switched from little TSV Pähl to big FC Bayern in 2000, had finally become part -time under coach Vincent Kompany this season. After the expensive contract extensions with Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies and also Team Senior Manuel Neuer, Müller’s added value was no longer worth a lavish million salary to the association.
“In the end, the decisive factor was the squad planning, where we focus on the future,” said Max Eberl. The sports director was, of course, with unhappy statements, contract talks with Müller, the shortest, especially with the Bayern icon, had aroused other expectations. “I understandably not liked the back and forth in public,” Müller now clearly wrote in his fan letter-and then reacted typically for him: “However, I think it was like my football game: that was not always shaped by perfection.”
What else is coming now? 743 competitive games in the Bayern jersey and 33 titles should not have been everything. “We will give everything to bring the championship back to Munich and reach our longed -for final Dahoam,” said Müller vigorously. “Pack ma’s together!”
But again starting eleven for Müller?
It is now due to its last club coach Vincent Kompany, Müller to enable a worthy and possibly triumphant Bayern service. Especially after the thigh injury of offensive magic Musiala, which captain Joshua Kimmich brutally called bitterly.
After all: Musiala didn’t need crutches. But the final picture of the limping offensive star in the Augsburg arena symbolized the concentrated bad luck of the Bundesliga table leader in crucial weeks of season.
“It doesn’t look so brilliant now. It won’t be enough for Tuesday,” said Eberl with a view to the upcoming quarter-final first leg against Inter. Due to a bundle of muscle in the back, left thigh, the 22-year-old initially fails how Bayern announced the day after the victory against Augsburg. When Musiala returns, the Munichers left open. According to a report by the Pay TV station Sky, the young star will be missing for around eight weeks.
In Augsburg, Kompany Bankfresser Müller for Musiala changed. Is it now a starting eleven against Milan? “Now Jamal is injured. I think Thomas still has a little bit in the quiver,” said Kimmich. On the train is Kompany. The trainer in Augsburg did not want to woke. Rather, he directed a now-first right-wing appeal to his remaining professionals. “We must not stop our momentum because such moments happen,” he said to the injury curse, which is now too long after the defensive (new, upamecano, davies, ito).
Company demands full trophy focus: “The next six games in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League we simply want to take our chances that we will win something.” And nobody will want it as much as Thomas Müller. “Always forward FC Bayern!” He called.
