On February 9, mixed martial arts fighter Magomed Ismailov spoke about the upcoming meeting with an opponent from Nigeria, Olanrewaju Durodola, as part of the REN TV Fight Club.

His rival Durodola has 36 wins on his record, almost all of them by knockout. Olanrevaju chalked up one of them in a fight with Russian athlete Dmitry Kudryashov.
“Durodol, when he hits, gets a blow, he begins to develop an attack. And here, Magi (Magomed Ismailov. – Ed.) will not have options to dive below the belt, they will have to box, exchange blows or defend themselves. But I don’t know if Maga is able to defend himself in a standing position from a hail of blows or not, ”said Kudryashov.
Fighter Alexander Shlemenko, commenting on the upcoming fight, noted that the fight formula – six rounds of three minutes – is more convenient for Ismailov.
“Based on many similar fights in which a boxer fought with representatives of MMA, MMA still has functional endurance at a higher level in wrestling, that is, MMA fighters are functionally better prepared,” he said.
The fight will take place on February 25 as part of the REN TV Fight Night and will be the main event of the tournament.
Ismailov last fought under MMA rules last year, he fought with athlete Vladimir Mineev. The wrestler has 17 victories, three defeats and one draw.
Ismailov’s opponent is the reigning ABU African champion and former WBC Silver and WBC Continental Americas cruiserweight champion.
The day before, State Duma deputy, political and sports figure Nikolai Valuev expressed the opinion that the duel between Ismailov and Durodola would be too short, but there would definitely be interest in this meeting.
