Even if all runners are finished, all posters and barriers are cleared again, the work of the organizers has not yet been done, as Günther Weidlinger understands. The 47-year-old race director draws after the 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon, who, thanks to Gladys Jerop Kimaina (Ken), experienced a record run with 2:24:58 hours, a satisfied balance:
OÖN: Can a race director sleep in the day after the marathon?
Günther Weidlinger: No, my alarm clock ringed at 4.50 a.m. At 5 a.m. our elite athletes started their journey home. I am responsible for seeing whether everything fits anyway. I also say thank you again that you were there and performed well. We would also be happy if you come back here. After that it really starts.

After the marathon on Sunday, there was time to initiate with your team?
The team has not really left because we have broken down and put together for so long. After that everyone was tired, were happy to come to bed. In any case, we will catch up with a successful marathon weekend.
They used to run marathon themselves. Is the tension as an athlete or as a racing conductor larger?
For a short time, it is larger as an athlete because you are looking forward to the competition. But as soon as the starting shot has been given, the tension is gone. As a race director, you have practically stressful the whole weekend and are nervous because something is always to be done, things have to walk. You are under power much longer than an athlete. From this, the runner may even have a little easier than the organizers, which is not only concerned with me, but my whole team from which everyone has to be on a zack.
