Retrospective doping lock for Ulm basketball player Jallow

Basketball professional Karim Jallow has been retroactive for one year due to a offense against doping regulations. The results of his Ratiopharm Ulm club are not affected.

Former basketball player Karim Jallow was retrospectively blocked from January 2024 to January 2025 due to an offense against the doping regulations. When deciding on the national anti-doping agency Germany (NADA), the International Sports Court CAS followed that the 28-year-old from the Bundesliga club Ratiopharm Ulm in the 2021/22 season missed his reporting obligations three times within twelve months.

As the Nada announced, all results that the player achieved during this period are revoked. That of the Ulm Association, which was German champion in 2023, are not affected by the judgment. “The preliminary laying of the lock justifies the CAS panel with the long period of procedure, especially in the first instance procedure before the German sports arbitration tribunal,” said the NADA announcement.

Violation of anti-doping code in the 2021/22 season

In January 2023, the NADA had filed a lawsuit against Jallow at the German Sports Arbitration Court. It was about a possible violation in the 2021/22 season against Article 2.4 of the anti-doping code of the German Basketball Federation. However, the sports arbitration court free of charge of the accusation.

The NADA then made an appeal to the CAS. The CAS panel now followed that Jallow had missed his reporting obligations and raised the acquittal.
